A new report from the search engine OnlyFinder has revealed significant geographic disparities in Americans’ use of OnlyFans, the London-based adult content subscription platform. The study, titled “The United States of Lonelyfans,” is the first to provide a detailed state-level analysis of spending patterns on the site.
West Virginia Leads Per Capita Spending
According to the report, West Virginia ranks first in the U.S. for OnlyFans spending on a per-capita basis, with $116,313 spent annually per 10,000 residents. The Mountain State outpaced all others despite its relatively small population, signaling a disproportionately high engagement with the platform.
In contrast, New York—while contributing one of the largest total spending figures at $179.1 million in 2024—ranked 35th overall with $88,646 spent per 10,000 residents. Nevada, Colorado, Illinois, and Iowa rounded out the top five.
Mississippi ranked last, spending just $54,728 per 10,000 residents, followed by Louisiana, Arkansas, Alabama, and Alaska.
Who Are the Subscribers?
In New York, the data reveal:
- 83% of OnlyFans users are men, spending approximately $148.7 million.
- 17% are women, responsible for about $30.4 million of the state’s spending.
- 47% of users are married, and
- 36% fall within the 25–34 age range.
Top Searched Creators
The platform’s rising stars also vary in popularity by region. In New York, Sophie Rain is the most searched OnlyFans creator, with over 246,000 monthly searches. Rain, who reported earning $23 million in 2024, said the appeal of the platform goes beyond adult content.
“A lot of my subscribers just want someone to talk to,” Rain said. “Someone who listens, remembers their name, their story.”
Camilla Araujo followed as the second most searched, with more than 110,000 monthly searches.
“Living in a city that never sleeps can feel isolating,” Araujo told The Post. “Platforms like this give people a sense of connection.”
Despite its origins in the adult entertainment space, both creators and analysts emphasize the platform’s role in fulfilling emotional and social needs. The OnlyFinder study suggests that in states with high per-capita use, economic and social isolation may be contributing factors.
As the platform continues to grow, regional trends like those seen in West Virginia and New York offer a revealing look into how Americans are engaging with digital intimacy in an increasingly online world.
