While OnlyFans has become synonymous with adult content, a new report sheds light on a more unexpected reality behind the platform’s multi-billion-dollar economy: emotional intimacy is the real product.
According to the creator management platform Supercreator.app, the vast majority of high-spending users aren’t seeking nudity or explicit content. Instead, 78% of chats between top spenders and creators focus on non-sexual topics, a surprising insight into what’s fueling the platform’s reported $6.6 billion in annual spending by its 305 million subscribers. OnlyFans isn’t going away anytime soon either, as it gets about 200,000 new users per day.
“Nudity is easy to find online,” said Yuval, CEO of Supercreator. app. “What’s rare—and valuable—is consistent, personalized attention. That’s what drives loyalty and revenue.”
Popular creator Sophie Rain, who boasts more than 7 million followers on Instagram, offered a clear example. Her top subscriber, a married man named Charley, has spent over $6 million on her content and daily chats over the past two years—yet he never asks for explicit photos.
“We talk every single day, without fail,” Sophie Rain said. “Charley sends voice notes just to check on me. I’m more of an emotional support system for him than anything else.”
What Charley prefers? Seeing Rain fully clothed, performing mundane tasks—an experience closer to companionship than fantasy.
The study revealed the top conversation topics among OnlyFans’ highest-paying users:
- Hometown and childhood stories
- Work stress or achievements
- Pets
- Hobbies like gaming or cooking
- TV shows, books, and movies
- Fitness routines
- Reactions to the creator’s daily posts or vacations
These chats mimic the kind of personal dialogue one might expect in a close friendship or a relationship.
The Rise of the “Digital Girlfriend Experience”
This model of interaction, known as the digital girlfriend experience, is now a major force in adult content revenue streams. According to Supercreator, top creators can earn up to $300,000 per month, primarily through message-based engagement rather than subscriptions or explicit content.
Brazilian model Babi Palomas is among those offering what she calls a “surrogate wife” experience. Charging up to $30,000, she engages with lonely married men in non-sexual companionship, like watching football games or talking through their day.
“Many of the men who are married and have families still feel lonely,” Palomas said. “They want someone to share what they consider ‘masculine’ activities with—and I fill that space.”
These insights mark a significant shift in how success is measured in adult content spaces. Where once the focus was purely visual or explicit, today’s top earners build trust and emotional rapport. For many men, being heard is more valuable than being turned on.
As one creator put it: “We all know men want to see a pretty girl. That’s nothing new. But now we know they also want something more—they want someone to listen.”
This new data suggests the future of adult entertainment may lie less in performance and more in presence.
